Structure of the German-Israeli Cooperation

The bilateral cooperation with Israel is indicative of a very special cooperative structure. Most important elements are agreements at interministerial level and partnership between research organisations.

In addition to the Interministerial cooperation initiative between the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and its equivalent Israeli departments, the large programs, which the BMBF also funds and which foundations and funding organisations implement, are also crucial for the bilateral cooperation. Research institutions and universities maintain close cooperation relationships. In addition, the European Union offers research funding programmes. Political and private foundations and their research programmes support cooperation with Israel equally actively.
